On Thursday, February 27, we hosted a playful and challenging Math Night event at E.A. White Elementary, themed "Game On!" The evening was filled with engaging math games and activities that brought our families together to celebrate the joy of learning.

Dr. Williams, our strategic math interventionist, shared her favorite part of the night: "Observing parents engage with their children and seeing the collaboration and bonding. It's heartwarming to watch parents and kids tackle math challenges together, share strategies, and celebrate their successes."

We featured a variety of interactive math games designed to challenge and entertain students of all ages. Ms. Cedio, a long-term substitute LIMM teacher, highlighted how Math Night aligns with our school's mission: "It reinforces our goal of providing meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom, helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a collaborative setting."

One memorable moment from the night was shared by Ms. Cedio: "Watching a group of fifth graders play the multiplying madness game board in the glow room. They were competing against each other to get the correct answer when multiplying fractions by a whole number so they could get to the end of the game. They were so excited when they finally solved it and celebrated as a team. It was a great example of collaboration and perseverance."

Ms. Nelson, pre-kindergarten teacher, emphasized the importance of events like Math Night: "Activities such as Math Night reinforce positive home-school connections as well as opportunities for parents to see the children learning new things and how they actively support their learning at home."

Another highlight of the evening was the Magic Fraction Playdough Activity. Ms. Cyfers, our literacy interventionist, enjoyed seeing the children's excitement and engagement: "The hands-on activity along with the guiding questions asked of the students about the portion sizes they were making made it challenging and applicable to them. It was a lot of fun."

Overall, Math Night was a tremendous success, fostering a love for learning and strengthening the bond between our school and families. We look forward to hosting more events that bring our community together and support our students' educational journey.

Stay tuned for our upcoming Read Across America Week from March 4-7, where we will celebrate with dress-up days, guest readers, and mystery reader videos. Let's continue to make learning fun and engaging for all!
